The Three Barton Keyes, 2015
by Andy Rottner
This edition of 2 is inspired by the character Barton Keyes from the book and film Double Indemnity.
Double Indemnity was written by James M. Cain and adapted for the screen by Raymond Chandler & Billy Wilder.
The character of Keyes is played by Edward G. Robinson, and his portrayal of the character provided the original inspiration for this book.
An edtion of 2, each book is hand drawn and feature painted covers on the book and clamshell box.
Each books reads forwards to backwards and backwards to forwards with the content overlapping each other in both directions.
The Three Barton Keyes are James M. Cain's version from the novel, Raymond Chandler & Billy Wilder's version from the screenplay and the Edward G. Robinson's embodiment of the character on the screen.
In one scene, Keyes quotes at length from actuarial tables concerning suicide that he has consulted. That monologue is the basis for the embedded text in these images.
